Rose Wylie RA
Rose Wylie lives and works in Kent, creating artworks centred on painting and drawing. She was born in 1934 and studied at Folkestone and Dover School of Art, and at the Royal College of Art, London. She represented Britain in 'Women To Watch', at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington DC, in 2010, and her first retrospective exhibition was held at the Jerwood Gallery, Hastings, in 2012. This was followed by a BP Spotlight exhibition at Tate Britain, which led to museum shows in Philadelphia, Tonsberg, Wolfsburg, Copenhagen, Dublin, and at the Turner Contemporary, Margate. Wylie received a Paul Hamlyn Award in 2011 before winning the John Moores Painting Prize in 2014 and the Charles Wollaston Award in 2015.
