Peter Green was born in 1933 and studied at Brighton College of Art and the Institute of Education, University of London. Having qualified as a teacher he initially taught at a secondary school in East London. During this time he developed his own work as a printmaker. He was elected to the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers in 1958. After a series of important academic posts he became Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design at Middlesex Polytechnic (later University) and Professor of Art and Design in 1983. His images have a variety of origins but usually emerge as part of the printing process rather than from extensive preliminary drawings.
